When I turned 20 years old, I suddenly needed to sleep 12 - 15 hours a day. Yet I would wake up feeling exhausted and would have to nap for a couple of hours the next day.  Over the few years, a number of doctors repeatedly told me that my lab tests were normal and that perhaps the stress of pre-med studies, then that medical school and residency training was too much for me and that perhaps I was depressed and should consider another profession than medicine.

Mainstream medicine offered me very little options and very little hope. My symptoms and concerns were summarily dismissed. Over and over.  Before the age of the internet, it took me 10 to 15  years to seek enough training  "outside the box"  both in the US and Europe to find helpful answers to my conditions.
What I learned helped to focus my career in medicine.

The human body  IS  an integral unit.  Thus a holistic and integrative approach in medicine is necessary to promote OPTIMUM  level of health AND function.  Hence, I practice functional, integrative medicine to touch many lives... to help many people who have traveled a similar journey as I have to reach and maintain optimum health.   

There is indeed much more than simply light at the end of the tunnel.
